Trek off-the-beaten-path to the biggest Gurung village in Nepal

For those wanting a bit more exercise and a unique cultural experience, Siklis trek offers a camping-based trek with magnificent scenery and fabulous local character. Trek along the Madi River Valley before heading up through terraced fields, alpine meadows and rhododendron forests. With over several hundred neat slate-roofed houses huddled on a hillside, this seldom-visited village is the biggest Gurung village in Nepal, where traditions still run strong with shamanism.

Trekking Itinerary

Siklis Trek MapDay 1: Arrive Kathmandu,
Day 2: In Kathmandu, sightseeing Kathmandu Valley ,
Day 3: Take the short but spectacular mountain flight to Pokhara (820m),
Day 4: Short drive to the Tibetan Refugee Camp at Hyanja (1,070m) and commence trek to Kharpani (1,375m),
Day 5/6: Continue through lush temperate forests and small settlements to the biggest Gurung village of Siklis (1,980m) with great views of the Annapurnas and Manaslu ,
Day 7: At Siklis; rest and exploration,
Day 8/10: Follow trails through terraced fields and remote villages to the beautiful Begnas Lake (630m) ,
Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu through the stunningly narrow river valleys,
Day 12: Trip concludes.
